Lenovo ideatab s5000 tablet computer specifications. Lenovo S5000 review with video and tablet specifications. The main camera of a mobile device is usually located on its rear panel and can be combined with one or more additional

Tablets with a screen diagonal of 7 inches are reasonably considered the most massive devices in their class. That is why, in order to stand out from competitors, manufacturers have to go three main paths - to offer an original design, unique functionality, or to radically reduce the cost. The hero of our today Lenovo review IdeaTab S5000 belongs to the first type of devices, since it is design that is its main weapon in the struggle for the attention of potential buyers. However, and specifications this tablet cannot be called too weak, as it is equipped with an IPS-matrix, a Mediatek quad-core processor, GPS-receiver and an optional 3G-module.

The Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 is packaged in a silvery-white cardboard box with accompanying documentation and a network box on the bottom. Charger 7.5 W with detachable USB / micro-USB cable.

The mysterious structure made from recycled cardboard, which at first glance looks like a simple charging tray, can in fact also be used as a temporary stand for a tablet.

Design

The seven-inch model Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 looks much more compact than most of its classmates. A similar effect is created by the silvery-black design of the front panel, the minimum width of the screen bezel and the characteristic shape of the case, which hides its true thickness. As a result, the overall dimensions of the device are 116 by 191 mm, the thickness is 7.9 mm, and the weight does not exceed 250 grams.

The front panel of the tablet is edged along the entire perimeter with a thin insert made of mirror-like silver plastic "like metal", which noticeably expands in the area of the lower edge. Under the screen, only the manufacturer's logo is applied, but above the screen you can find not only a 1.6 megapixel webcam, but also a light sensor, as well as a single speaker hidden under a mesh grill.

Most of the rear panel of Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 is made of silvery plastic with a fine texture, and only at the very bottom there is a mirror insert "under the metal". In the center of the back there is a relief logo of the company, in the upper right corner there is a large 5 megapixel lens of the main camera with autofocus, but without a flash.

The left side of the case is completely free, on the right are the power button and the volume rocker. Only the audio jack is placed on the upper edge; in the center of the lower one you can find a micro-USB port with support for OTG (On-The-Go) technology and a built-in microphone.

Display

The Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 tablet is equipped with a 7-inch IPS-matrix with a resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels, which for this diagonal corresponds to a pixel density of 215 PPI. The backlight brightness is manually adjustable in the range from 45 to 355 cd / m2, automatic adjustment to ambient light conditions is also available. The capacitive touch layer supports up to 5 simultaneous touches, the quality of the oleophobic coating is average.

Functionality

The device is based on a hardware platform from Mediatek, with the Wi-Fi version of the S5000-F tablet using the MTK 8125 processor, and the 3G version of the S5000-H using the MTK 8389. This system-on-a-chip contains PowerVR SGX544 graphics and four Cortex processing cores -A7 with a passport operating frequency of 1.5 GHz, however, the tablet developers limited it to 1.2 GHz to save energy. As a result, the device's performance does not break records, but it is quite sufficient for casual games and multimedia entertainment.

Volume random access memory is 1 GB, and the storage capacity is 16 GB of which 12.9 GB is available to the user. Expanding the data storage will not work, since the Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 is not equipped with a microSD card slot. From a full charge of the 3450 mAh battery, the tablet is capable of working 6 hours in video playback mode and about 8 hours in web browsing mode. The tablet is equipped with modules Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11n, optional 3G-module with Micro-SIM card, as well as a hardware GPS receiver, which allows you to use this model as a navigator.

Interface

The Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 tablet runs on the Android 4.2.2 operating system, while the manufacturer guarantees an update to at least version 4.3. The proprietary interface has a number of differences from the standard one, in particular, application shortcuts are by default moved to desktops with a pass-through flipping, there is no dedicated section for applications.

In addition to the usual notification and settings panels, there is an additional settings panel at the bottom of the main window. We especially note the proprietary power manager, which allows you to evaluate the power consumption of specific programs and hardware components, as well as fine-tune the power consumption parameters for yourself. This utility can be called from the settings menu or using an informative widget combined with the task manager.

Ergonomics

In terms of ergonomics, the Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 strongly resembles a large smartphone. Thin, lightweight and not too wide body makes it easy to operate this tablet with one hand. The location of the microphone, speaker and the presence of a proximity sensor are simply created for voice calls in Skype, which is especially important for the 3G version of the model.

The layout of the buttons will take some getting used to, since at first there is a slight confusion associated with the fact that the power and volume keys are usually spread on different sides or put the main ON / OFF button above the "rocker".

Outcomes

As a result, we can recommend Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 to those users who are looking for a stylish miniature tablet for every day. This essentially budget model looks great and is equipped with everything you need for comfortable work, except perhaps for memory cards.

However, the main problem of this tablet is not in itself, but in the competitive environment, since for the same money that is asked for it in Ukraine, you can buy a much more interesting ASUS Google Nexus 7 (2013). If Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 cost us the same as it does in the US ( this moment about $ 180), then he had a much better chance of success.

No matter how large, full-format tablets are released to the market computer technology, compact tablet PCs were and still are the most in demand. This is explained quite simply, because for most users a tablet is an opportunity to while away their leisure time, that is, its mobility is important. Of course, tablets with a diagonal of 10 inches or more are noticeably inferior to their counterparts in this regard.

V this review we will talk about a fairly compact 7-inch model Lenovo IdeaTab S5000, which will definitely appeal to connoisseurs of stylish gadgets. In addition to the pretty outer shell, the inner filling is also pleasing: of course, this gadget is not designed for powerful tasks, but it will cope with the shine with everyday tasks!

Design

The manufacturer limited itself only to plastic as the material of the tablet, however, in the design it is involved in different variations. For example, the gray back cover has a matte rough surface, which is very convenient for use. In its lower part there is a black mirror insert, of course, also plastic. In the middle of the lid, you can see the Lenovo branded logo, and in the upper left corner - the rear webcam.

The mirror insert is also visible in front of the gadget: it is a kind of edging, which is slightly more widened at the bottom of the device. At the top and on the side faces, it is seen as a thin strip. There is also a corporate logo of the company located directly under the screen. There are no physical keys on the front edge of the tablet, but the speaker, front webcam lens and light sensor are located above the display.

Considering the heterogeneous design of the device, which completely distracts all attention, it seems difficult to determine the dimensions of the gadget by eye. However, the thickness of the Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 is 0.8 cm, and the length and width are 19 cm and 12 cm, respectively. Weight is 246 g.

Display, sound and webcam

The tablet screen is very compact - 7-inch, its resolution is 1280 by 800 pixels with a density of 215 ppi, the type of matrix is IPS. These are fairly standard indicators for tablet PCs of this form factor, they cannot be called ideal, but, in general, they are quite good. There is an oleophobic coating on the display, which should protect it from fingerprints, leaving greasy marks, dirt.

The visibility of the screen is good, inherent in the IPS-matrix. According to the manufacturer, the viewing angles of the tablet are 178 degrees. Thus, several people can easily enjoy the movie, browse the Internet resources at the same time. By the way, the multi-touch function is also present, the screen supports up to five touches at a time. It should be added that the display is bright and contrasty enough, the image on it looks realistic.

There is only one speaker in the IdeaTab S5000, and it is located above the display near the webcam. You shouldn't expect a miracle from it: the sound is standard, but it's enough for playback, especially if you plug in headphones. But there are two cameras, while the front one is limited to a resolution of 1.6 megapixels, and the rear one is 5 megapixels. At the same time, the main one can boast of autofocus, but there is no flash here. The purpose of these cameras is known to everyone: the front camera is used exclusively for video communication, and the rear one is useful if you need to photograph something. It is clear that with such a low resolution, one cannot count on high image quality.

Keyboard

You won't be able to tell much about the keyboard in the tablet, because it is not physical, and we cannot touch it. But there is virtual keyboard, which is an invariable attribute of any tablet PC. It appears on the display as soon as you need to enter, for example, a word in the search bar or write a message in social networks.

So, a standard Android keyboard is provided here. Its interface is very user-friendly and straightforward; if you wish, you can change various parameters, for example, the language. In general, even those who have never worked with this operating system, make friends with the keyboard instantly!

Performance

As a pre-installed OS we have Android 4.2, while the manufacturer promises that the system will be immediately updated to version 4.3. The Lenovo IdeaTab S5000-F package includes a MediaTek MT8125 quad-core processor based on ARM Cortex-A7 with an operating frequency of 1.2 GHz. By the way, this SoC is mainly equipped with budget models tablets. There is one more configuration - Lenovo IdeaTab S5000-H, which has a slightly stronger processor - MediaTek MT8389. In addition to this feature, this modification is equipped with a 3G module.

The graphics card is PowerVR SGX544. It can encode and decode video, supports DirectX 9, OpenGL 2.1, OpenGL ES 1.1 / 2.0, OpenVG 1.1 and OpenCL 1.1.

There are no options for choosing the amount of RAM and built-in memory, you will have to be content with what is laid down by Lenovo engineers. And they offer potential users 1 GB of LP DDR2 RAM and 16 GB of flash memory, of which part will go for the system, and 13 GB can be used. Unfortunately, memory cards are not provided, and therefore it will not work to expand the capacity of the built-in memory.

Ports and communications

The interfaces are taken out on almost all facets of the tablet PC, except for the left one, which may not seem entirely rational to users.
The left side of the tablet is not equipped with any interfaces.

But on the right there is a volume rocker and a button to turn on the gadget.

At the top, the manufacturer limited itself to only a headphone jack.

At the bottom you can see Micro-USB / OTG in the center, and next to it is a built-in microphone.

The configurations of this tablet PC differ, first of all, in the presence of a 3G module in one of them. This feature is optional for the Lenovo IdeaTab S5000-F we are describing. In addition, without fail, each of them has built-in wireless communications Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11n, as well as a GPS navigator.

Battery

The tablet has a 3450 mAh lithium polymer battery. Based on the manufacturer's assurances, this battery allows you to operate the device for at least 8 hours with Wi-Fi turned on. And the engineers were right, indeed, the gadget is able to work for about 8 hours in web surfing mode and about 6 hours when watching movies. Even under load at 100% display brightness, the battery will not be discharged earlier than after 4 hours. We conclude that this tablet is incredibly mobile and ideal for travel.

Conclusion

The Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 tablet is just a godsend for everyone who is looking for a compact gadget in order to have fun and productive free time. Yes, it has a plastic case, but this also has its advantages: it is lightweight and far from the most expensive on the tablet market (on average, $ 290). In addition, it has a pleasant-looking design and will definitely not go unnoticed by others, especially since there is an opportunity to purchase the same model, but with 3G.

The display of the tablet, although it does not have a phenomenal resolution, is enough for 7 inches. In addition, the IPS matrix will delight the user with good viewing angles. The filling of the device is enough to solve daily tasks as well as for many modern games. There is only one significant drawback - it is impossible to increase the memory storage due to the lack of a memory card slot.

In general, the tablet turned out to be successful, and therefore we advise everyone who is currently looking for a quality device to take a closer look at it.

The Lenovo S5000 tablet has received a rather elegant appearance. This modest in size and lightweight device can become a full-fledged companion due to its convenience and practical capabilities.

Design

Almost the entire front of the tablet is closed protective glass, only a small strip of plastic is left at the bottom. Main part rear housing made of pleasant to the touch and slightly ribbed silver plastic. This material does not slip in hands, does not leave fingerprints, and from a distance it can be confused with metal. The back cover of the device is non-removable; there is an embossed manufacturer's logo in the middle, and the lens of the main camera in the upper left corner.

Display

The device is equipped with a 7 ". IPS-display with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels. To some, such a resolution may seem very small today, but this drawback cannot seriously spoil the impression of the device.

Interface

The tablet runs OS Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but the manufacturer announced the possibility of updating the firmware via OTA to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

The shell of the tablet is significantly different from the standard interfaces that we could see in other Android devices. Probably the most notable innovation was the removal of the application menu. Instead, the icons of all installed utilities are displayed directly on the desktops, and they can be independently moved between other screens and collected in folders.

Camera

The device received a 5MP main and 1.6MP front cameras. The application for shooting opens in 2 seconds; it supports scene shooting, white balance, exposure and other picture formats.

The quality of the photo is not very high - the device is not at all intended for systematic photography.

Wireless networks

The Wi-Fi model supports 802.11b / g / n standards with a frequency of 2.4 GHz. Modules Bluetooth version 3.0 or 4.0, depending on the model. There is also a GPS with A-GPS support.

Apparatus in operation

The device comes in two types - with and without 3G support, as a "3G model" and "Wi-Fi model" (the latter is practically not found in Russia). Different variants got different chipsets. Wi-Fi is powered by MediaTek MT8125 platform and 3G is powered by MediaTek MT8389. There is practically no difference between these chipsets: both processors have 4 ARM Cortex-A7 cores with a frequency of 1.2 GHz, PowerVR SGX544MP2 graphics and are equipped with the same performance.

The volume of the operational and internal memory is 1 and 16 GB respectively. You cannot expand using memory cards, but there is a way to connect external storage with a USB host.

Autonomous work

The device is equipped with a 3,450 mAh non-removable lithium-ion battery. It takes about two and a half hours to charge. The battery capacity is modest, but sufficient for such a tablet. In addition, the size of the battery could not have been increased without sacrificing the low weight of the device.

Outcomes

The tablet is not new, and it has some drawbacks. It is not suitable as a full-fledged gaming device or a producer of high-quality images. But if you want an inexpensive device that you can carry with you at all times, then this is a good option, especially considering its weight and size.

The average cost is 8,000 rubles.
