How do I close an application in Windows 8?

Any device has its own purpose. The computer is designed to process information and it does it using Applications. We can say that a computer without applications is like no hands. Opening the application is as easy as shelling pears - on the screen, click on the required tile. After that, the application corresponding to the Windows 8 tile will be deployed to the full screen.

However, the question on Windows 8 "How to close an application" requires a separate study. Alas, you will not find the usual cross in the upper right corner of the Application.

First, we save the information, and then close the Application

Before closing an Application or program, you should always concentrate a little and think about the consequences of closing. There can be 2 situations here:

  • you need to save the information before closing the Application,
  • no need to save, because you can always find this information and open it again.

Some applications save information automatically, others require a response from the user:

  • save her,
  • or close without saving.

In general, you can find out whether you need to save information at the moment when you try to close the program. Then a window will appear asking: "Save ...?" and two possible answers (yes, no).

Information usually needs to be saved if you type text, draw, record a voice, scan a document. You do not need to save information, for example, when watching a movie, listening to music, viewing a document, because such information can be found and reopened.

Why close some Apps?

You work on your computer for a long time without restarting or shutting down, several Applications (programs) are open. A laptop has a certain resource and capabilities, and each open program reduces these capabilities. Therefore, in the case when a lot of programs are open, after some time the computer will start to "slow down", that is, it will work noticeably slower. To prevent this from happening, close unnecessary programs.

The above method for closing Applications using hotkeys is fast, simple, but with one drawback: at the right moment, for some reason, all the necessary keyboard shortcuts completely fly out of my head :)

To close the current application:

1) Place your mouse pointer or finger at the top of the screen.

2) Move the mouse at the top of the screen until the mouse pointer turns into a hand (more precisely, into a five):

3) Then click and hold the mouse button. This will make the application smaller. Grab the Application with the “five” mouse and drag it to the bottom of the screen. As soon as the "five" reaches the bottom of the screen, the application will immediately close.

This technique can also be used to close Desktop Applications.
