I am sure the tablet will be popular, as it is one of the best, if not the best tablet at the moment with a diagonal of not 10.1 inches, but only 7.7 inches. This form factor is much more convenient than "large" models, because they simply cannot be carried with you anywhere except in a bag, and this is not always the most convenient option.

Screen and camera

One of the main features of the new GT 7.7 tablet is the screen. Samsung, the display manufacturer, has equipped new tablet exclusive Super AMOLED Plus matrix. Compared to Amoled, this screen has a larger margin of brightness, increased tilt angles, and also, black color looks exactly black, and not grayish-black. The quality is better than the Galaxy Note, which has Super AMOLED, but the brightness is about the same.

The screen is a bit of a non-standard size, 7.7 "with a resolution of 1280 x 800 (WXGA). Information on it is seen very high-quality and brightly. Honestly, at maximum brightness it makes sense to work with it only in a very bright sun, the rest of the time the central position of the brightness slider is It's perfect. Colors look realistic, in general, no complaints about the screen. Video on this tablet is a pleasure to watch.

As in all modern tablets, the screen supports multitouch up to 10 touches, that is, by the number of fingers on both hands, it is, however, difficult to guess which application might need this.

Concerning front camera, then it is standard for tablets, in general, its quality is sufficient for video communication, but no more. But the main camera, although only 3 megapixels, is quite good. Photos are of high quality and with good color rendition. And anyway, this camera is better than the iPad 2.

By the way, the camera interface has changed, more precisely, it has become very similar to the one used in phones.

Filling and tests

Moving on to the most interesting thing, to the inner filling of the tablet. So, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 is based on ARM Cortex A9 processor, clocked at 1.4 GHz. The only difference from the infamous Tegra 2 lies in the video chip, which is installed inside. The NVIDIA chip has a GeForce, which is understandable, and the Samsung creation has the Mali 400MP. In principle, they are very similar in performance, although sometimes it turns out that the Samsung tablet slows down, but this happens very rarely. Even FullHD video plays with a bang, by the way, out of the box the tablet supports MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV, DivX, Xvid, which means you don't have to install codecs to watch movies, because these are the most common formats.

By the way, another fact confirms that the Cortex A9 and Tegra 2 are very similar processors. The same games run on both processors almost the same, although the Cortex still loses a little, because the games from the Tegra Zone are optimized for the NVIDIA processor. It's funny, but you can't put games from Tegra Zone on a Samsung tablet, you have to use the usual Android Market.

The tablet has 1GB of RAM, as well as 16 (or 32) GB of internal memory for user data. Moreover, as we already found out, the memory can be expanded by another 32GB, thanks to the microSD slot. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 has all the modern means of communication: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, and, of course, there is GPS.

We ran several synthetic tests to check the processor power and evaluate how the tablet will behave when running high-demand games on it.

As you can see from the results, on the Galaxy Tab 7.7. will go all that are currently available in the game market. This is great news for all gamers, because now you can not carry a 10.1 tablet with you, but play on a compact little 7.7, and without losing quality.

The battery of the device proved to be excellent. I used the tablet for about 6 hours and during this time it was only 50% discharged, and during this time I was able to watch two 40-minute films, play games, surf the Internet via 3G, do a couple of tests, draw and take pictures. I let it out of my hands during these 5 hours only for half an hour, if you add up all the time. This is a very good indicator for a tablet, but not surprising, because the GT 7.7 has a 5100 mAh battery, which is a huge resource, especially for a tablet computer. But, of course, we carried out separate tests in several modes of operation.

• Wi-Fi on, medium brightness, normal use (internet, movies, games) - 8 hours 26 minutes

Thus, it becomes clear that if you play with the tablet all day, it will be discharged in 8-10 hours, but most often this does not happen, therefore, the tablet will be able to work for about 2 days without recharging, while it is worth noting that with the screen off and connections, it almost does not discharge, 2-4% per night.
OS and software

The tablet comes preinstalled with Android 3.2 Honeycomb, which over time, according to Samsung, will be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. On top of the system is Samsung's proprietary Touch Wiz shell. It doesn't differ much from the base Android interface, although there are some minor cosmetic changes. Moreover, this tablet has an updated version of the Touch Wiz, which is different from the one that was installed in the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

This is how the interface looks in vertical and horizontal modes. The home screen contains widgets for quick access to the weather, clock, news, updates from social media. networks, but you can customize these widgets yourself. In addition to them, shortcuts of the most used applications for quick access are placed here. All shortcuts can also be customized. Top left line google search and a button for voice search... On the right is a button for accessing all applications and a button for adding new widgets or shortcuts to the desktop.

The notification panel has slightly changed, now it looks like the panel that is used in Samsung phones... There is quick access to all the switches, the clock and all the necessary indicators are visible, the ability to adjust the brightness, control the music, and of course, the display of all notifications about certain events occurring on the tablet.

The note application allows you to draw and write text, and then save or immediately send it to friends via the Internet or Bluetooth. The abundance of settings will allow you to make the drawing the way you want.

The great news is that this tablet has a "Phone" application with which you can make calls, if, of course, a SIM card is installed in the tablet.

The function of taking screenshots has been pleasantly updated. Now it is not just saving the desktop image, but also the ability to quickly edit it. After clicking on the button for taking a screenshot, it opens special program, where you can write something over or cut out the desired piece from the entire screen. This is very similar to the feature already available on mobile. Galaxy phone Note.

By the way, the screenshot button itself (4 at the bottom left) can be reconfigured and made responsible for applications, search or the camera. In principle, this is convenient, because not everyone needs screenshots on a tablet.

The Polaris Office program has been superbly updated. Now it is not just an application for viewing and easy editing of documents uploaded to the tablet, but a full-fledged text editor that is convenient to use. All sorts of settings, properties, and so on are available, which was previously lacking and which has long been present in desktop versions of products, for example, Microsoft Word.

But the applications for viewing news and weather have remained unchanged, although they are still convenient and can be called from widgets on the desktop.

The built-in browser has also been updated. The main feature that many users have been waiting for from this browser is the alignment of text to fit the screen. Now it is convenient to read information on any sites from a tablet. See for yourself the example above, how GT 7.7 adapts the text for comfortable reading.

Many use mobile phone as an alarm clock. Since this tablet has a "Phone" application, then there is also an alarm clock.

By tradition, the Game Hub is responsible for games on the Samsung tablet, where you can find interesting games and immediately buy or download them.

In general, the set of software for the tablet is not bad, but still, for sure, you will have to install some more applications. We were pleased with the many changes that affected TouchWiz and applications that have become a little more convenient.

Competitors

The main competitors, at the moment, are only a few tablets. Not all handheld companies have made 7-inch versions of tablet PCs yet. So, these are tablets: HTC Flyer, Huawei Mediapad s7, Acer A100. Yes, there are other 7 "tablets out there, but they don't even come close in performance to the Galaxy Tab 7.7.

This is what a tablet looks like Samsung near with Huawei, as you can see, Super AMOLED Plus does its job, the black remains black, not gray. As for the rest of the characteristics, in principle, the tablets are similar, Huawei was also made not so long ago. But Samsung is thinner, lighter than its Chinese competitor, and that sometimes plays a decisive role.
