Samsung Galaxy A7 - Specifications. Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) - Tech Specs Samsung a7 Specifications

Last year, Samsung introduced the updated A-Series, which received the 2016 prefix to separate it from previous models. The line of smartphones came out really successful, for the first time for itself the company endowed it with characteristics close to the flagship ones, leaving the price at an average level. As you might expect, Samsung has updated the "A-series" in 2017 as well. We have already tested Galaxy smartphones A3, Galaxy A5, and now it's the Galaxy A7's turn. Let's take a look at what the older model of the line has to offer.

Design and materials

Like last year's A7, new smartphone took over the features of one of Samsung flagships, this time it turned out to be the Galaxy S7. The shape of the case, the glass of the front panel rounded to the edges, as well as the identical grille of the earpiece and navigation keys, really make the models look alike.

But to emphasize the positioning of the Galaxy A7 (2017), the camera unit was made noticeably smaller than in the S7, which makes the smartphone look a bit like a toy from the back side. Especially in the pink color that we got on the test. In general, the design of the device is made in the spirit of Samsung latest several years, and the similarity with the flagship model is only a plus for him.

The same applies to the materials of the case. Already last year, the company significantly improved the quality of the "A-series", and this time it only slightly improved it. The main material of the Galaxy A7 (2017) is glass, which covers the entire front and rear panels.

At the same time, the frame is made of aluminum to add extra rigidity to the case. The fit of the materials is excellent, the glass of both the front and the front panel smoothly turns into the metal, leaving almost no gap. And since the body is not disassembled, the whole structure is monolithic.

The dimensions of the Galaxy A7 (2017) are 156.8x77.6x7.9 mm and weighs 186 grams. As for a 5.7-inch smartphone, the device turned out to be relatively compact.

Water and dust resistant

For the first time for "A-series" models of the line received protection against water and dust according to the IP68 standard. Thus, Galaxy A7 (2017) can easily survive falling into a rainstorm, it can be washed under the tap and generally submerged in water to a depth of 1.5 meters and for a period of up to 30 minutes.

The body of the smartphone is sealed, so dust cannot get into it either. Sensor on connector USB Type-C used for charging, warns that moisture has got into it and you need to wait until it dries before connecting the charging cable.

Display

Galaxy A7 (2017) is the older model of the new "A-series", so it received the largest display. Its diagonal is 5.7 inches, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Traditionally Samsung uses a matrix Super AMOLED with a PenTile pixel layout. However, considering the diagonal and resolution, the pixel density is 386 per inch, so you can get a hint of screen grain if you bring it directly to your eyes. Also, the peculiarities of vision cannot be discarded, however, for most users, images and fonts on the display of the Galaxy A7 (2017) will look crisp.

Smartphone screen calibration depends on the selected setting, for example, in Adaptive Screen and Cinema AMOLED, colors can be made very rich and vivid, while in Basic and AMOLED Photo they will be closer to natural. We measured it in Basic mode and the display performed excellently with more than 100% sRGB coverage, 6500K color temperature, even gamut and backlighting.

The Galaxy A7 (2017) also features a popular blue filter for the screen, which makes it noticeably "warmer". This option can be enabled manually or by schedule.

In addition, the smartphone was equipped with another feature of the flagship Samsung smartphones- always the active screen. Since the display here is Super AMOLED, and each pixel is individually illuminated in it, even with a locked screen with minimal battery consumption, you can display the time and date, notifications, calendar or an image on it.

Platform and performance

Mid-range smartphones may look like flagship models, but are rarely able to match them in performance. This happened with the Galaxy A7 (2017), despite the similarity in design, it lags behind the S7 in terms of performance. However, this does not prevent the smartphone from working quickly and performing all the tasks assigned to it, including games.

The Galaxy A7 (2017) uses a 14nm, 8-core Exynos 7880 processor clocked at 1.9GHz, along with Mali T830MP3 graphics. In addition, the smartphone is equipped with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded with microSD cards.

Performance Galaxy platforms A7 (2017) will be sufficient for all tasks that a smartphone user may face, but in resource-intensive games, you will have to choose medium graphics settings.

Despite the popularity of hybrid slots for SIM and memory cards, in the Galaxy A7 (2017) they are implemented separately, thanks to which you can install two nanoSIM cards and a separate microSD card in the smartphone. To implement this, Samsung used not one universal, but two trays. One is installed on the upper end of the case and you can install nanoSIM and a memory card into it. And the second is on the left side and is designed to install one nanoSIM.

Interface

The Galaxy A7 (2017) uses Android 6.0.1 and a new skin called Grace UX. This is not to say that TouchWiz did not look modern, but the new interface was developed for the seventh Android version, so I immediately adopted some of its features. This is mainly about standardized icons, organization of notifications in a drop-down panel, and a better organized settings menu.

In general, Grace UX looks nice, but most importantly, it is really fast. The animations in the new interface are smoother and smoother. Thanks to this, it seems that the smartphone has a more efficient processor and more memory.

Camera

The main camera in the smartphone is 16-megapixel with f / 1.9 aperture, 27 mm focal length, autofocus and flash. Compared to last year's A7, the number of megapixels has increased, but optical stabilization has disappeared.

In daylight, the camera takes good pictures as expected. Moreover, they can be done both in automatic and HDR modes. The latter saves photos a little longer than we would like, but this is often found in mid-range smartphones.

At night, the aperture of f / 1.9 allows the Galaxy A7 (2017) to capture more light, however, a high resolution it plays less of a role here than the size of the pixels on the matrix. Thus, the camera manages to capture more detail in low light, but lacks sharpness. In addition, the lack of optical stabilization can lead to blurred images in low light conditions.

Generally, Galaxy camera The A7 (2017) is on par with the two-year-old flagship Galaxy S6, which is great considering the positioning of the new model.

The front of the smartphone also deserves attention, as it also uses a 16-megapixel module with an f / 1.9 aperture.

It is not the same as the main one, but it also provides good quality pictures.

Multimedia

The external speaker in the Galaxy A7 (2017) is located on the right edge, above the power button. This allows you not to overlap it when you hold the smartphone horizontally with both hands, for example, while watching a video.

However, by itself, it sounds muffled, since it has a waterproof membrane.

The 3.5mm headphone jack is on the bottom edge. The smartphone sounds good, while in the settings there is an equalizer, as well as the proprietary Adapt Sound technology, which allows you to adjust the sound to the characteristics of your hearing.

The fingerprint scanner

Traditionally for Samsung smartphones, under the Galaxy A7 (2017) display there is a mechanical Home button, into which a fingerprint scanner is inscribed.

The user can add up to 5 fingerprints and use them to unlock the smartphone, as well as for purchases in Google play... The scanner works quickly, subjectively it is no worse than in flagship Galaxy S7.

Autonomy

The Galaxy A7 (2017) has a 3600 mAh battery, thanks to this, as well as the energy efficient processor, the smartphone demonstrates an excellent level of autonomy. In the PCMark battery test at 200 cd / m2 brightness, it lasted 9.5 hours. With an average load level, with active data transfer and 20 minutes of calls per day, you can count on 2 days autonomous work.

The smartphone is charged via the USB Type-C connector and is supported fast charging.

Site score

Pros: materials and build quality, water resistance, high-quality display, always active screen, performance, 32 GB of internal memory, separate slots for two SIM-cards and microSD, image quality of the main and front cameras, fingerprint scanner, good autonomy, fast charging

Minuses: camera without optical stabilization, the waterproof membrane slightly worsened the sound of the speaker

Conclusion: Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) is a mid-range smartphone that provides the user with all the necessary functions, as well as water and dust resistance, which was previously a feature of flagship models. In addition, the A7 (2017) can please good cameras, user-friendly interface, separate slots for SIM and memory card, as well as fast charging

For some reason, there was an opinion among buyers that buying a smartphone in the middle price category deprives them of many of the opportunities that could be obtained by acquiring a flagship of a similar brand. Samsung has tried to break this stereotype with its new A-line.

On the agenda - Samsung review Galaxy A7 2017. Unlike some, this model is protected from moisture and dust, supports Samsung Pay, has a cool camera and a high-quality display with Always On function. But first things first.

Price and main characteristics

The A7 is more expensive than the rest of the smartphones in this lineup. The device will have to shell out about $ 580.

V lineup Galaxy A 2017 A7 is the largest smartphone, so the choice of all users wishing to purchase a phablet from a Korean company one way or another comes down to this particular model.

Completion and appearance

Compared to last year's model, the packaging of the A7 has remained virtually unchanged. The only difference is the 2017 designation in the upper right corner of the box. The main technical characteristics of the device are highlighted at the back.

The smartphone comes with a solid set of accessories: in-ear headset, Charger, Type-C cable and an OTG adapter. So that the owners of old microUSB cords are not left “overboard”, a TypeC-MicroUSB adapter was also put in the box.

Traditionally, the A series phones take on the features of the previous generation Samsung flagships. This time appearance The A7 is almost copied from the Galaxy S7. Compared to last year's A7, the edges of the smartphone have acquired a slightly more rounded shape, and the metal frame around the body is now painted in the main color of the device.

In Russia, so far only three color options are available: black, milky blue and gold. They may be joined by a pink version, which should soon hit the shelves.

The back and front panels of the phone are covered with glass. Its edges are smoothly rounded to the aluminum frame. The construction is monolithic, there are no gaps between the individual materials.

Under the 5.7-inch display on the front, there is a familiar mechanical Home key with a built-in fingerprint scanner. On the right and left there are two touchpads: "Back" and "Switching applications".

Samsung's brand designation is immediately striking. It is located just below the earpiece bar above the screen. A proximity sensor and a 16MP front-facing camera can also be seen.

Above - perforation for a microphone, as well as a slot for SIM and MicroSD cards. One of the undeniable advantages of the A7 is full support for two SIM cards and a memory card.

The place for the second SIM is located on the left side of the A7. A volume rocker is located just above the slot.

The screen activation button and the multimedia speaker are located on the right side of the smartphone.

On the bottom of the device is USB port Type-C, spoken microphone and 3.5 mm headphone jack. Looking closely, you can see two thin strips - these are the plastic stakes of the antennas.

Behind the 3D glass on the back is a 16MP main camera with LED flash. The Samsung logo is applied even below. In the 2017 A7, the camera design has changed slightly. It has decreased and now does not protrude above the body at all, which is why rear panel looks a little empty.

During use, the relatively large size of the smartphone constantly makes itself felt. It is sometimes difficult to operate it on the go with one hand, and because of the glass coating on both sides, the device now and then strives to slip out of hand.

The A7 2017 is IP68 certified to protect it from dust or water ingress. The A7 is capable of withstanding a half-hour dive to a depth of 1.5 meters.

Screen

Since the A7 is the oldest model in the lineup, it is equipped with the largest 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 * 1080 pixels. Traditionally, pixels are placed using PenTile technology, but the friability of fonts and pixelation of the image are absolutely invisible during standard use of a smartphone. Multi-touch supports up to 10 touches.

The quality of the smartphone display, as always in older Samsung, on the highest level... Colors do not distort and do not lose brightness when changing viewing angles, the picture is contrasting, juicy and saturated.

The screen color can be adjusted by changing the preset modes. The settings enable “Adaptive screen”, “Cinema AMOLED” or “Photo AMOLED”. The modes change colors from vivid and saturated to more natural. There is also a blue filter to reduce eye strain.

The AlwaysOn Dispay function, first tested on flagship devices, has now appeared in the A line. The smartphone is able to display the date, time, battery charge and other basic information on the turned off display. AlwaysOn Display has practically no effect on the battery life of the device.

Performance

The Galaxy A7 is equipped with an Exynos 7880 octa-core processor, Mali T830MP3 graphics and 3GB LPDDR3 RAM. For applications and multimedia, there is 32 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded with microSD cards.

The hardware platform of the smartphone does an excellent job with common applications, smooth interface animations and most modern games. In WoT Blitz at maximum settings, we got a stable 35 frames per second in the most dynamic scenes. Results in AnTuTu:

Of course, the A7 is not a gaming device. However, the smartphone is able to satisfy the needs of the vast majority of users. Grace UX wrapper on Android based 6.0.1 works without lags and freezes, and the fingerprint scanner almost instantly recognizes the owner's finger.

Camera

A-series smartphones are positioned as devices for active young people who regularly use the multimedia capabilities of their gadgets. The A7 relies on two 16-megapixel modules on the rear and front panels.

The main camera is equipped with phase detection autofocus and diode flash. The optics have an aperture of f / 1.9, but in part night shooting the flagships are far from here. First of all, the lack of optical stabilization affects. Samsung's decision not to implement this feature looks doubly strange when you consider that it was in last year's A7.

During the day, excellent photos are obtained in automatic and HDR modes. The second copes well with shots against the sun, significantly expanding the dynamic range. There is a panoramic shooting mode.

The front camera module is slightly inferior to the main one. However, it still shoots better than most other smartphones. Overall, the A7 roughly matches the S6 flagship launched two years ago.

Video examples:

V native application cameras navigation is carried out mainly by swipes. How to change the mode or some parameter is clear even for a beginner thanks to the intuitive interface. For example, to go to a selfie, just swipe from top to bottom. Available shooting modes "roll out" if you slide your finger from left to right.

Speaker, sound quality

The multimedia speaker is located on the right side of the smartphone, which is why the sound does not overlap in a vertical or horizontal position. The sound itself is a little muffled due to the waterproof membrane in the speaker. Samsung decided to sacrifice this component to protect the device.

But in the headphones, the music sounds great. Soft bass and crisp highs are heard in a standard headset. Individual parameters can be adjusted in the equalizer. There are UHQ upscalle and SoundAlive audio effects. With Adapt Sound technology, the A7 adjusts the sound to the wearer's hearing aid, so EQ fans won't be disappointed.

Battery

The A7 combines a 3600mAh battery with an energy efficient processor and a SuperAMOLED screen to give the phone about 2 days of battery life in normal mode and 10 hours in a stress test (Wi-Fi on, maximum screen brightness, video viewing).

You can charge your smartphone with a new cable or miniUSB. The kit includes an adapter for the new USB Type-C standard. Supports fast charging Samsung Adaptive Fast Charging, which fully charges the device in an hour and a half.

Communication and Internet

The Wi-Fi module of the smartphone works according to the a \ b \ g \ n \ ac protocols. With the help of MIMO technology, you can significantly speed up the process of data exchange. In this mode, the device uses both antennas at the same time. Supports Bluetooth 4.2 with low power technology.

You can use your smartphone to pay using Samsung Pay. For this, the A7 was equipped NFC module which simulates a bank card. The connection of the device with satellites works flawlessly, the connection takes place in just a few seconds. It uses GPS and GLONASS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Grisha from Samsung A7 I am very satisfied with the product, an excellent display, cameras, for such a price you cannot find. I like that two sim and a flash drive. Contactless payment. But the sediment remained from the frail speaker. On the speakerphone, the speaker wheezed, the same thing happened when watching a video. I used it for 5 days and passed it in exchange for the same one. Only now they sent me to the center for 20 days without a telephone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Delight I am totally delighted with Samsung phone Galaxy A7. Pink is very suitable for girls, there were no such colors before. Stylish, trendy, youthful. The quality of the camera is a separate delight, excellent photos on both cameras. There are no minuses at all, only pluses. It works quickly, does not hang, in general the phone is for me. Not expensive now, unlike 2018.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DieMou5 from Bought at the beginning of November right after the release in 2018 Phone Shikaren at that time paid 11k. Regretted immediately after NG, and the A7 and S8 fell in price. Could pay extra and buy S8. I advise you to immediately buy a cover and better the original one (it is convenient and has a pleasant appearance). In the early days, the phone was without a cover, slid off an Smooth table, slowly sliding to the edge (it always strives to fall out of my pocket) after a couple of successful, small falls on the carpet, I decided not to joke and bought a cover. Well, VERY SLIPPY smartphone))). He kept a discount card in a case (there is a pocket for this). after a long time of wearing, I noticed scuffs and a scratch on the display (apparently a grain or speck of something got there), so I don't put the plastic card there anymore. After half a year of ownership, I am satisfied with it and for regular user a couple of photos, calls, a couple of games and the Internet, quietly enough for a day. If you surf the Internet all day (from 10 to 20:00), then in the evening 30-40% remains + there is a good energy saving function up to the "maximum" (+100 hours of operation at 100% charge) I don't play games much, but takes a photo cool). It looks great without a cover))) but not safe))). A workhorse with good camera and performance. Never freezes or slows down. In case of accumulation of garbage (which I simply did not feel), the phone has a one-click optimization section, from time to time I clean 2-4 GB of cache and all that stuff. Nice and comfortable. For work, video, internet and photos - PERFECT (the hardest PABG game is too tough - 15 fps). In general, I'm happy with the phone))

General characteristics

A type

Determining the type of device (phone or smartphone?) Is quite simple. If you need a simple and inexpensive device for calls and SMS, it is recommended to opt for a telephone. A smartphone is more expensive, but it offers a wide variety of options: games, videos, the Internet, thousands of programs for all occasions. However, its battery life is significantly shorter than that of a simple phone.
